Learn about the different ways individual users can be onboarded and register their personal Xtrm accounts to start receiving and managing payments.

Overview

Xtrm offers multiple onboarding methods to accommodate various payment workflows, partner integrations, and user preferences. Whether an individual is receiving their first automated payment, registering through a partner portal via Single Sign-On (SSO), or signing up directly, Xtrm ensures a seamless, compliant onboarding process.

Onboarding Methods Summary

The table below outlines the primary onboarding paths available for individual users—

Onboarding MethodHow It WorksKey Benefits
First Payment Auto-CreationAn account is automatically created when a company issues a payment via API, UI, or Mass Payment file to an unregistered email address.Zero friction for the remitter; the user simply validates their email to claim funds.
Direct Web RegistrationUsers register directly on the Xtrm web platform or a customized branded registration page provided by a partner.Ideal for users who want to set up an account prior to receiving payments.
Partner Portal SSO / SAMLUsers sign in seamlessly via a partner’s Identity Provider (IdP) using Single Sign-On (SSO/SAML 2.0).Eliminates duplicate credentials and automatically provisions Xtrm user profiles.
API / Developer IntegrationIndividual profiles are created programmatically via Xtrm Payment APIs (XAPI™).Allows complete white-label or embedded onboarding within third-party applications.

Detailed Onboarding Workflows

1. Automatic Account Creation via Incoming Payment

When a remitter sends a payment to a user without an existing Xtrm account, the system creates a pending profile and guides the recipient through a quick setup process—

  1. Payment Initiation:

The remitter submits a payment to the recipient's email address using Mass Payment files, API, or the Xtrm platform.

  2. Notification Email Received:

The recipient receives an email notification with the remitter's branding informing them of the incoming payment.

  3. Validate & Accept Terms:

The user clicks Validate in the email and accepts the Xtrm Service Agreement.
  4. Set Credentials & Mobile Security:
The user creates a secure password, adds their mobile number for 2FA security, and provides their region.
 5. Claim Funds:
Upon completion, the user is automatically logged into their wallet and can immediately transfer or withdraw their funds.

2. Single Sign-On (SSO) & Partner Integration

For organizations using enterprise portals or partner platforms, SSO allows users to log into Xtrm without creating a separate username or password—

  1. Authentication Exchange — The partner portal acts as the Identity Provider (IdP) and passes user details via SAML 2.0 to Xtrm.

  2. Automatic Provisioning — If optional user creation parameters are included in the SAML payload, Xtrm automatically creates the individual profile upon first login.

  3. Seamless Access — Users switch directly between the partner portal and their Xtrm digital wallet without re-entering credentials.
